Bronde & Bald
Fall is here! Just like the trees shedding their leaves, this season invites you to shed your old appearance and don a new one. What better way to spice up your style than to wow everyone with a new hairdo or maybe going Bronde?
Yup, you read that correctly.
This is your sign to finally try out something new for yourself. Whether it's the bronde hair you're dying to try, or the bald look you're itching to sport, go for it! Let the falling leaves be the welcoming parade for the new, more confident you.
If it’s your first time to hear about bronde, it is a fusion of blonde and brown hair that looks sun-kissed creating a striking result between bright and natural. And if you want a full metamorphosis, then maybe going bald like our client, Jada Smith, is the way to go.
The Challenge
Even now, many women are confined within the beauty standards set by society. The way females dress, act, and present themselves tend to be bound by our culture.
Think of Rapunzel, for example. She has flowing, shiny, long hair. And society tells us that it's how women's hair should be.
But is it the only type of hair that women should rock?
The answer is a resounding "no." The challenge is to fight the standards that prevent you from donning the style you want.
If you want to go bronde, or whatever color you like, we fully support you, especially if it allows you to express yourself. And if you want to go bald, we got your back too. Go forth and crush the restrictive standards that hinder you from cutting your hair!
The Desire
Here's the thing: hair is more than just adornments on the head.
For women, it's part of their identity. It's something they use to express themselves. But like with other things concerning women, society seems to always have a say about it.
That's it. No more.
They're over the standards that keep forcing them inside boxes. And that's what women want, right? To not be forced to subscribe to what everybody else says. Just take it from these powerful women who have a lot to say about going bald in this segment of Red Table Talks.
The Result
For women, cutting hair off is almost a spiritual experience. After all, when they cut their hair the way they like, they reveal the beauty underneath it all. It's symbolic of presenting the person rocking the hairdo.
Why make the experience sound so deep, you wonder?
Ask any woman if they've received judgment about their hair and they'll tell you stories that go beyond just the strands on their head. Everybody seems to have a comment on women's hair length, volume, texture, and color. It's so easy for other people to say something. And sometimes, what they say isn't pleasant.
"Dye your hair. Don't dye your hair. Grow your hair long. Cut your hair short. Bleach it. Leave it as it is."
That's what makes women feel free when they get to decide about their hair. Of course, we support you in doing what makes you happy. But it's also worth taking the time when deciding about hairstyles. Whichever style you want, The Lab Lounge is here to help you! Here are great options to choose from:
Fall Hair Colors: Do We Choose Them Or Do They Choose Us?
The question is as old as time: "Do you think this hair color would look good on me?"
And this is literally how a conversation goes for every client’s visit:
I pull out the color wheel and help my girls understand their skin tones.
Next, I show them colors that complement their features the most.
We pitch ideas back and forth for around thirty minutes before we decide.
If you ask me, making a hairstyle decision is a journey. And when I recommend a style for my client's hair, I consider the following factors:
Their eye color,
Their fashion sense and clothing style, and
Their lifestyle
I find this to be the most exciting and fun part! After all, it's a wonderful experience to be able to come up with a style that showcases a woman's personality.
If you're changing your hair color, you're essentially saying you need a new vibe. And to support women in their quest to find the best new look, I like to channel my inner stylist mode and have fun with it!
To everyone who can't choose a style, I say to you:
You can play with any color you want! What matters at the end of the day is that you're happy, contented, and confident with the look you're rocking. However, at the same time, I should remind you that there are specific color ideals for each type of skin tone.
But here's the thing:
You can still pick any color even if it doesn't seamlessly fit with your skin tone! You just have to put in more effort when playing up your makeup to balance the color.
What I have to say about yummy brunettes is: I love golden tones!
I keep wondering why ladies are so scared of warmth. I agree, no one wants to have old-school chola highlights. However, that's not the kind of warmth I'm talking about!
Enter the star of the show:
Some women say they don't want to see any red in their hair, but gold is not red. Think about a stunning amber stone instead. Or better yet, imagine a caramel latte with an extra shot of espresso.
Warmth showcases youth and it also makes your skin tone look richer and livelier. So don't be scared to reach for that blonde hair dye for some highlights!
Now for the fall, Brondes will give you the same warmth. But color placement is a different conversation altogether. Here's what I recommend:
Keep the brightness around your face.
Darken the rest of the hair color by two levels.
The nice shift will make people notice. However, it would still be easy enough for you to get back to light blonde hair for the spring. This change is perfect for all of the blonderexia ladies out there!
I don't take this one lightly. And let's be honest, 75% of the time, the red just doesn't click with people. But it's undoubtedly one of the biggest attention grabbers and showstoppers — when done right.
Here's the deal:
Red is one of the hardest colors to keep in the hair, and it's also one of the most difficult to remove. It's like red hair doesn't want to stay dyed the way you want it to, much like what happens to blonde hair when unkempt.
Once you cross over the line, it's a definite commitment. In my opinion, it's a good commitment to have — again, when it is done well. I always love good ginger hair!
Don't be deceived. Becoming a brunette isn't as easy as grabbing a box dye to make your hair brown.
Same with how you don't just take blonde hair dye to make yourself blonde. Take some time and pride in choosing the undertones of it.
Brown hair never fails to hold so much richness, depth, and dimension.
Cutting Your Hair Off
Women have often been told that the classic long and full-volume hair is the way to go. And for some reason, short hairdos are branded "wrong." But don't let that label discourage you from cutting your hair!
Here are some style suggestions to go along with your new hair color!
To Wrap Up
You can go as wild as you want with your hair! Of course, certain hairstyles work better for some than others. And that's what your options are for! There are so many styles to choose from, and you can pick whatever look you like best. You can grow or cut your hair, or you can apply blonde hair dye if you want.
Just remember, other styles may require more commitment and effort to maintain. But really, listen to your hair and heart's content! After all, your happiness and confidence are what ultimately make a style great.
